CHEMPARK, with its sites in Leverkusen, Dormagen and Krefeld-Uerdingen, Germany, and Nanjing Chemical Industry Park (NCIP) in China entered into the first worldwide partnership agreement between chemical parks on Wednesday, November 18, 2009. The contract was signed during a visit to China by NRW State Premier Jürgen Rüttgers. The signatories were Klaus Schäfer, Chairman of the Executive Board of CHEMPARK operator CURRENTA, and Xie Chongxiu, Vice President of the NCIP Administrative Committee and Deputy Director of NCIP GmbH. CHEMPARK accounts for around a third of the sales generated by the chemical industry in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Over 45,000 people are employed at its sites.
In the agreement, the two parties undertake to share their experience and information on a regular basis. The partners look forward not only to an exchange of know-how but also to cooperating on activities and events. Collaboration on training and an exchange of employees for a limited period are also planned over the long term.
The first contacts were made on a site marketing trip to China organized by business promotion organization NRW-Invest last May. This agency of the Economics Ministry and its representative office in Nanjing provided support for the partners on both sides throughout the process of preparing the agreement.
