Coolhousing joins Europe

Coolhousing has put into operation its own connections to the most important European internet nodes, DE-CIX and AMX-IX. They will result mainly in reduction of latency for connected networks and improved connectivity.

The Coolhousing data centre on Vinohradská Street in Prague 1 has acquired something new and significant in the area of connectivity: Direct connections to the most important European peering nodes, the Deutscher Commercial Internet Exchange (DE-CIX) in Frankfurt, Germany, and the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX), in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The new connections will significantly improve the quality of foreign connectivity.

The AMS-IX is the largest and the DE-CIX is the second largest European peering node. Peering nodes are locations in which internet networks of internet service providers and contents are connected. They are like crossroads on data highways, through which data flows between individual computers connected to the internet. The data flows through each of the specified nodes at peaks of approximately 3.5 Tb/s. For a comparison, the domestic node NIX.CZ has not yet reached a maximum of even a tenth of that amount.

"For our customers, the direct connection to AMS-IX and DE-CIX will mainly reduce latency for connected networks. From the 20 ms to Frankfurt (DE-CIX) so far, we have reached 10 ms, and from 30 ms to Amsterdam (AMS-IX) we have reached 20 ms," explained Jiří Dvořák, sales manager for Coolhousing. However, improvement of network connection quality cannot be taken lightly. Nearly all major global internet service and internet content providers are connected in AMS-IX and DE-CIX.

The fact that during their activities Coolhousing's customers also reach networks connected in AMS-IX and DE-CIX has been proved by the use of new connections immediately following their activation, when the connection to Amsterdam is strained approximately to a third, and the connection to Frankfurt approximately to a fifth of the currently purchased capacity. At the same time, both connections are pre-dimensioned many times over, which if necessary enables simple boosting of their capacity.

The Coolhousing network is currently directly connected by two independent routes to NIX.CZ, through its own connections to the Slovak internet nodes SIX and SiteIIX, the German node DE-CIX and the Dutch node AMS-IX. The foreign connectivity is supplied by three providers, which are Dial Telecom, Fast Communication and Interoute.

The offering of housing servers, leasing of dedicated servers and operation of virtual servers and many additional services can be found on the company's website at www.coolhousing.cz.
