MapQuest.com Launches International Business-To-Business

MapQuest.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: MQST), a leader in advanced mapping systems, today announced the launch of the initial stage of its international business-to-business solutions. MapQuest.com's growing international business team, led in their London offices by Wayne Munday, Business Development Manager, Europe, is planning to launch a new product line in June. These products will provide Great Britain companies with business-to-business mapping and driving direction solutions for Internet and intranet applications. MapQuest.com will roll out similar products in other European countries in the near future. "This exciting step establishes MapQuest.com as a global leader in mapping and driving direction technology," said Michael Nappi, Vice President of Business Solutions at MapQuest.com. "MapQuest.com is committed to supporting the new world of commerce where businesses are growing and thriving with the Internet and telecommunications. A crucial component of business success in this global marketplace is the single engineering and logistical solution that MapQuest.com can and will furnish worldwide." MapQuest.com already has tested and proven products in Great Britain and Europe. In July 1998, MapQuest.com provided the key mapping component for the establishment of a Call Centre for Thomas Cook Global Services, a division of Thomas Cook (UK), a worldwide travel and financial services company. The Thomas Cook Global Services Call Centre provides emergency services with a single Help Phone Line that travelers can access from anywhere in the world. When a call comes into the Help Phone Line at the Thomas Cook Global Services Call Centre, the operator instantly sees a MapQuest.com map of the caller's location. The MapQuest.com solution allows the operator at the Thomas Cook Call Centre to identify relevant service points nearest to the caller, such as an embassy in the case of a lost passport. "We are very pleased with the maps and data provided by MapQuest.com, which has allowed us to build a map-based system for our Call Centres for the very first time," said Peter Hedges, Service Database Manager for Thomas Cook Global Services Call Centre. "We are continuing to work with MapQuest.com to improve our system and add even more detailed mapping information for our international customers." MapQuest.com has provided products for other Great Britain companies, such as The AA (Automobile Association). For the AA, MapQuest.com created StreetMaster London, MileMaster Great Britain and Ireland and a CD-ROM titled Interactive Britain and Ireland. In addition, MapQuest.com has already provided mapping technology for web sites in Europe, such as Scandinavia Online, Allt om Stockholm, i:FAO and WorldCities.
