'Technology Makes the Difference' - Sony exhibits its innovations at ITU Telecom World 2003

BERLIN (Germany) September 30 (PROTEXT/PRNewswire) - Sony'sfocus at this year's ITU World Telecom 2003 (12-18 October) inGeneva will be on its innovations towards the Ubiquitous "Value"Network (UVN). Incorporating mobile and personal services,business communication and key devices and technology, Sony willgive people a glimpse of the fast approaching UVN era.

Sony's theme this year, "Technology Makes the Difference",will centre on the range of communication technology solutionsthat fall into three zones:

Mobile & Personal Service Zone: introduces the latest line-upof mobile phones from Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications,including the new Z600, the first GSM/GPRS clamshell mobile phonewith exchangeable front and back covers and with complete imagingand messaging capabilities. The new Z200 GSM/GPRS phone with aninnovative clamshell design and rich colour screen, and thepopular SO505i for NTT DoCoMo (available only in Japan) will beon display as well. The SO505i is the world's first camera mobilephone equipped with a 1,3 Megapixel camera and is gettingconstant praise as the best camera phone on the market.

Business Communication Zone: demonstrates solutions forsecurity applications and video/audio network communications.This will include Sony's new innovative high quality videocommunication system, the PCS1P, a new pay-per-use videoconferencing solution and Sony's first audio communicationsolution CTE-600. Also on display will be practical remoteNetworked Video Surveillance Solutions such as RealShot(tm)Manager, and Dynamic Digital Signage Solutions such as the Pointof Sale Information and Entertainment (POSIE) application for theretail sector.

Key Device & Technology Zone: exhibits key components andtechnology for mobile communications. This will include Sony'snew short-range wireless technology application Near FieldCommunication (NFC), new generation high capacity micro batteriesand thinner, brighter LCD modules for mobile phones. Sony's newhigh capacity optical storage system Professional Disk forData will also be featured, as well as ultra high sensitivitymicro cameras and a new postage stamp sized analogue TV tunerSuper Mini Tuner Module.
