CHANTILLY, Va. (PROTEXT) - Sonic Telecom, Ltd. today activatedthe telecommunication industry's first network to offerinternational bandwidth on demand. Global customers can usebandwidth between the USA and Western Europe as needed, paying bythe byte for the transmission resources actually used on a singlemonthly bill. Sonic Telecom, a pioneer in the newly emerging category ofInternational Telecommunications Service Providers, delivers end-to-end service, eliminating the need for customers to buyequipment or sign up for long-term contracts. The company'sunique approach to voice-data-video services not only cutscustomers' direct transmission costs; it reduces the number oflines needed and the cost of managing a global business. In a challenge to the industry, Sonic Telecom President andCEO Todd Ruelle invited users of trans-Atlantic private lines andframe relay services to reexamine the structure of thoseservices. "Demand that your current carrier provide bandwidth on demandand billing based on usage," Ruelle said. "If they don't -- orcan't -- provide it, Sonic Telecom will." Privately-held Sonic Telecom provides access, transport andtermination for transmission of video, data and voice on a singlenetwork at a fraction of the cost -- and with greater flexibility-- than the private lines and frame relay services offered byAT&T, MCI/WorldCom, British Telecom or Sprint.
