TC TrustCenter makes WAP applications secure

Hamburg 19. ledna (PROTEXT) - TC TrustCenter - one of Germany's leading companies for Internet security - is now providing certificates for secure WAP applications. This will enable users of digital cellular phones to make encrypted online purchases, buy and sell shares and conduct secure mobile bank transactions. WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) is a global open standard for digital cellular phones and other mobile devices. WAP enables fast and easy access to specially prepared website content. With WAP certificates, TC TrustCenter is providing the basic framework for the breakthrough of cellular phones as a universal e-commerce medium. Certificates enable the encryption of sensitive data, not only for computer-based Internet applications but also for online applications used with digital cellular phones. This new service enables TC TrustCenter clients to get a step ahead by preparing for the forecast explosive growth of the WAP market. The first application, which is currently being implemented together with the Deutsche Bank and Nokia will be running in a pilot project starting in february. "Very soon all technical prerequisites will be established to offer customers of Deutsche Bank 24 the possibility to trade shares securely with the aid of a WAP-enabled device, e.g. a Nokia 7110" says Dr. Robert Buchholz, Vice President, Global Technology & Services (GTS) of the Deutsche Bank.
