Business Award In Stockholm / Named Best New InformationTechnology Business Structure Worldwide DULUTH, Minn. (PROTEXT) - The King of Sweden presented SoftCenter Duluth with an international award for Best New BusinessStructure at today's Global Bangemann IT Challenge ceremonies atNobel Hall in Stockholm. Soft Center Duluth received the honor for its powerful new"technology campus" system. A vision of Duluth Mayor Gary Dotyand other city leaders, Soft Center Duluth is an internationalalliance with Soft Centers in Sweden and a large-scale effort tobring new and existing businesses to Duluth, Minn., and allowthem an opportunity to grow in an integrated, supportiveinformation technology business environment. It won praise fromjudges and other international observers for its innovativetechnology campus designed to change the nature of how companieslocate and do business. Soft Center Duluth's first phase of construction will becompleted this summer. All companies that become a part of SoftCenter are provided with advanced facilities, an extensive poolof programming and engineering talent, as well as a largeconcentration of financial and support services. These servicesinclude training and retraining, recruitment, state-of-the-artinfrastructure, investment and funding packages and socialservices. Soft Center Duluth is in the process of generating thousandsof new jobs and attracting U.S., Canadian and European companies.It has raised nearly $40 million U.S. dollars through private andpublic investment. Plans are also underway to establish SoftCenters in other U.S. communities.
