Ryszard Kapuściński Scholarship for Studies in Intercultural Competencies * Danube University Krems to Award Scholarship in Honor of the Polish Author

Krems (Austria) 20 September (PROTEXT/ots) - Danube University Krems willaward a scholarship for the course of studies in Intercultural Competenciesbeginning November 21, 2007. The scholarship was established in memory ofPolish writer Ryszard Kapuściński and will be awarded to an applicant fromCentral or Eastern Europe. Applications will be accepted until October 15,2007.

To honor the memory of polish journalist and author Ryszard Kapuściński whodied in January 2007, the Intercultural Studies program at DanubeUniversity Krems will award a partial scholarship for the university’sIntercultural Competencies field of study. "Kapuściński’s sensitive andknowledgeable approach to other cultures serves as a model for theobjectives of the Intercultural Competencies field," says program directorDr. Christiane Hartnack in explanation of the scholarship’s name. TheRyszard Kapuściński scholarship will cover half of the total cost (10.200Euros) of the master’s program beginning on November 21, 2007.

For Applicants from Central and Eastern Europe

The scholarship is open to Central and Eastern Europeans between the agesof 25 and 40 who are working in an international or intercultural field.Applicants must have completed a university education and have proficiencyin both German and English. To apply, interested parties are asked toselect a quote from Ryszard Kapuściński and to write a short commentaryexplaining their selection. A résumé or CV as well as a letter describingthe applicant’s motivation for applying completes the application packet.The application deadline is October 15, 2007.
