For Next Generation Networks Tel Aviv, Israel (PROTEXT) - Devices Offer End-to-End CoS/QoSSupport for Multiple Services. Reduced Cost of "Access" Ownershipfor Service Providers. RAD Data Communications will be showing new products andenhancements to its ACE(TM) family of Intelligent ATM-based CLEsas part of its growing line of Accessware(TM) for Next GenerationNetworks. Products being shown for the first time at TelecomGeneva include the ACE-2002(TM) Access Concentrator and anupgraded ACE-101(TM) Interworking and Demarc device. The productssupport CoS/QoS functionality, including mapping of IP to ATMalong with traffic monitoring and shaping. They also featurevoice and transparent LAN transport. Future additions to theAccessware line -- based on the popular FCD platform -- includean integrated access device with Frame Relay performancemonitoring and E1 line loopback. ACE-2002: Multiservice Access Concentrator and ATM NTU RAD's ACE-2002 supports multiservice interworking over ATM andtraffic concentration of transparent LAN services -- including10/100BaseT and IP -- in addition to CES (circuit emulationsystem). The device offers end-to-end Quality of Serviceassurances, featuring elaborate ATM traffic management andengineering functionality as well as ATM monitoring andmaintenance capabilities -- 1.610 OAM flows. These attributesenable service providers and their customers to implement andmonitor Service Level Agreements for various service categories. IP CoS to ATM QoS in the ACE Family For the moment, "best effort" public IP networks do notsupport the end-to-end Quality of Service mechanisms inherent inATM that are necessary for delivering high quality multimediaapplications (voice and video) or other applications requiringpriority treatment. For those carriers and service providers thatemploy ATM as a backbone for running IP traffic, this indeed is amajor consideration. RAD's ACE family now offers a solution formapping different types of LAN traffic to ATM's QoS based onusing the Type of Service (ToS) field in the IP header. Thispowerful combination assures smooth integration of popular IP-based applications with public ATM services. Maximizing Fiber: ATM over WDM Carriers seeking to maximize their investment in fiberinfrastructure are turning to Wave Division Multiplexingtechnology, which supports the transport of multiple channelsover a single fiber strand. RAD will show the ACE's new WaveDivision Multiplexing module, successfully tested at BroadbandYear 99, enabling service providers to save on provisioning fiberin the Local Loop. Standard IMA Bridges Gap Between E1/T1 and E3/T3 Links Rising bandwidth demand is creating a headache for manyenterprise network managers whose E1/T1 links are bursting at theseams but whose traffic requirements don't yet justify paying forexpensive E3/T3 circuits. At Telecom Geneva, RAD will beunveiling an integrated IMA module for the ACE-101 that supportsATM Forum standard Inverse Multiplexing over ATM (Version 1.1)for customizing bandwidth between E1/T1 and E3/T3 speeds. "Service providers, ISPs and their customers are scrambling toaddress the problem caused by expanding demand for morebandwidth," says Holtz. "Since Fractional E3/T3 lines are notuniversally available or affordable, the only cost-effective andscalable Fractional E3/T3 solution is standard IMA," he explains."The ACE-101's new IMA module delivers incremental bandwidth ondemand with all the benefits of end-to-end ATM Quality of Serviceand traffic shaping." RAD Data Communications designs, manufactures and markets abroad range of high quality data communications andtelecommunications product solutions for carriers, serviceproviders and corporate networks. cRAD is a member of the $320million RAD Group of companies, a world leader in networking andinternetworking product solutions. ots Original Text Service:RAD Data Communications Internet: http://www.newsaktuell.deContact: Ilan Seidner Director of Marketing Communications ofRAD Data Communications +972-3-6458107, or ilan@rad.co.il
