Qualcomm Unveils 3G CDMA Concept Phone - Advanced Wireless Multimedia Terminal Prototype Incorporates Features for Voice, Data and Video Communications

Geneva, Telecom '99, Booth 1130.2 (PROTEXT) - QUALCOMMIncorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of CodeDivision Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology,today unveiled the QUALCOMM QCP(TM) Third Generation (3G) phone,a handset prototype that incorporates features such asvideoconferencing and Web browsing that may be found in futureproducts. A sleek, elegant and easily portable package, this QCPconcept phone represents future phones that will be High DataRate (HDR) and 3G capable units. These phones will incorporatefeatures such as a color LCD display, touch panel control, aswell as a pop-out easel back for desktop conference calls andvideo display, and a retractable keypad cover to protect thescreen. The phone also includes voice command of all majorfunctions. The QCP 3G handset features an extremely lightweight(approximately 74 grams) magnesium case with leather trim thatmeasures 11.43 cm. x 5.08 cm x 2.54 cm.
