New Executive Appointments for Sony in Europe

TOKYO (Japan) December 5 (PROTEXT/PRNewswire) - SonyCorporation today announced that Michiaki (Mike) Tsurumi willretire from the position of President of Sony Europe, effectiveApril 1, 2004. This is in accordance with Sony Corporation'sinternal policy on the retirement of Group Executive Officers. Asof the same date, he will be succeeded by Chris Deering,currently President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment EuropeLtd. (SCEE).

Mr. Deering became President of SCEE in 1995, and managed theintroduction of PlayStation into Europe and its subsequent salesgrowth to reach the number one market position. He is expected toapply his skills and experience to Sony's entire Europeanelectronics business.

Until the effective date, Mr. Deering and Mr. Tsurumi willwork closely together and in coordination with Gran Lindahl,Chairman of the Sony Group in Europe, to ensure an orderly andsmooth handover.

David Reeves, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketingof SCEE will become President and COO of that organization,effective January 1, 2004. On the same date, Mr Deering willassume the position of Chairman in addition to his current roleof CEO of SCEE. He will continue in this role after becomingPresident of Sony Europe from April 1, 2004.
