Lear Corporation to Produce Seats for Ford F-Series Pickup Trucks

Built in Kansas City, MO Southfield, Mich. (ots-PRNewswire) - Lear Corporation (NYSE:LEA) today announced that it has been selected to produce theseats for the 2000 model year Ford F-150 full-size pickup trucksbuilt at Ford Motor Company's Kansas City, Missouri (USA)Assembly Plant. Lear, one of the world's largest automotive suppliers, alsohas been assigned the design, engineering and manufacturing ofthe 60-40, fold-down rear seat for the 2001 model year F-150SuperCrew, Ford's all-new, full-size pickup that will featurefour full-size doors and seating for up to six adult passengers.SuperCrew models will be built in Kansas City starting inDecember. Lear also has acquired a 100,000-square-foot plant in nearbyLiberty, Missouri where a workforce of about 200 Lear employeeswill assemble the F-150 seats for just-in-time delivery to Ford'sKansas City plant. Lear also produces the flooring and acousticssystem as well as the door panels for all Ford F-150 pickuptrucks built in North America. Other details of Lear's new Ford F-Series business were notannounced.
