Lear Corporation Assists With Earthquake Relief Effort

(ots-PRNewswire) - Lear Corporation (NYSE:LEA) today announced that it would send $10,000 to the Red Crossto help with rebuilding efforts after the recent devastatingearthquake in Turkey. Lear has two facilities in Bursa, south of the epicenter ofthe quake. Lear executives made contact with Plant Manager NihatErdin who reassured them that Lear people were safe. "Thank God none of the Lear employees nor their families hadany damage," Erdin wrote in an e-mail from Bursa. "We lost powerand many of the workers spent the first two nights of this weekoutside their houses due to their fear of a second strongearthquake, but the situation is now under control. "The earthquake has caused extensive damage in the Marmararegion in the northwest, as you probably have seen on TV. We haveinitiated a campaign in the plant to collect and donate clothingand other goods that may be needed by the survivors," Erdin said. "As a global company, we feel a special connection to thepeople in each country where we have a presence," said Ken Way,Lear Chairman and CEO. "We are thankful that our people in Bursaare safe and praise their efforts to help their community andtheir country during this terrible tragedy."
