Jetstream Announces Strategy to Address International VoDSL Opportunity

(PROTEXT) - Company Enhances IndustryLeading VoDSL Solution and Partnerships to Meet Rapidly GrowingVoice and Data Service Delivery Needs of European Carriers Jetstream Communications, the leading supplier of Voice overDSL (VoDSL) equipment to incumbent and competitive local exchangecarriers, announced today its strategy for enabling internationalcarriers to address the local voice and data service opportunitywithin the increasingly competitive European telecommunicationsmarket. The strategy includes a new international version of itsindustry leading VoDSL solution as well as a broadening of itsexisting partnerships with leading global telecommunicationsequipment manufactures including Alcatel, ECI Telecom, NortelNetworks, Orckit and Nokia. In conjunction with thisannouncement, Jetstream will be demonstrating its solution atTelecom '99 this week in Geneva within the booths of Alcatel,Ericsson, Lucent Technologies, Orckit, and Adaptive Broadband. "The competitive local telecommunications market in Europe isset to take off quickly over the next year," said Jeff Wilson,director of corporate access with Infonetics Research, a leadingnetworking telecommunications market research and consultingcompany. "One of the last remaining hurdles for European carriersin deploying local voice and data services has been the last milechallenge. By enabling carriers to leverage broadband accesstechnologies such as DSL and fixed wireless to deliver both voiceand data services, the Jetstream solution goes a long way towardmeeting that challenge." New Product Enhancements Because its VoDSL solution implements a standards-based,messaging- oriented signaling protocol that is fully V5 and ISDNcompatible, Jetstream is uniquely positioned to quickly addressthe product requirements of the European market. New featuresavailable in the international version of Jetstream's CPX-1000Voice Gateway include full support for the V5 series of Class 5switch interfaces (ITU G.964, ETSI V5.1, and ITU G.965, ETSIV5.2) using E-1 facilities as well as an STM-1 155Mbps opticalinterface for connecting to broadband access networks.Jetstream's European IADs are also being enhanced to support bothPOTS and ISDN basic rate interfaces for the delivery of localvoice services as well as both Ethernet and V.35 subscriberinterfaces for the delivery of data services. The internationalversion of Jetstream's leading VoDSL solution is scheduled foravailability in the first quarter of 2000. Leading Partnerships The second component of Jetstream's international strategyincludes a broadening of its existing partnerships with majorinternational telecommunications equipment suppliers. Jetstreamhas already demonstrated interoperability of its leading VoDSLsolution with all leading European telecommunications equipmentmanufacturers including Alcatel, ECI Telecom, LucentTechnologies, Nokia, Nortel Networks, and Orckit. In addition,Jetstream plans to leverage its existing OEM relationship withboth Alcatel and Nortel Networks as they enter the Europeanmarket.
