IXOS raises EBIT forecast for current fiscal year - record results in Q2

Munich/Grasbrunn, Germany 30. ledna (ots/PROTEXT) - IXOSSOFTWARE AG (NASDAQ: "XOSY", NEUER MARKT: "XOS"), a worldwideleading provider of eBusiness document management solutions,reported Group sales of EURO 33 million (previous year: EURO33.6million), a record profit of EURO4.5 million (previous year:EURO 0.1 million) and earnings per share of EURO 0.23 (EURO0.01) for Q2 (Dec. 31, 2001). The Company is also increasing itsoperating profit (EBIT) growth target for the current fiscal year2001/2002 to 20%. The previous forecast was 5%. With revenuesfor the quarter of EURO 33.0 million, the result is in line withthe high revenue level of last year, when IXOS achieved thehighest quarterly result in the company's history (EURO 33.6million). License revenue fell from EURO 18.7 million to EURO15.4 million, while maintenance revenue rose by 24% to EURO8.0million. In the Services business area IXOS profited from a 13%increase in demand and increased revenues to a total of EURO9.6million. CEO Robert Hoog said, "Our products are well-positionedin the market, with 1750 installations and about 1.3 millionusers worldwide. As a result, our maintenance and servicerevenues are experiencing double-digit growth. With the IXOS-eCONSolution Suite, and especially our new mySAP and groupwareofferings, we also expect increased demand for new licenses inthe second half of the fiscal year." IXOS' consolidated earningsbefore interest and tax (EBIT) rose in Q2 from EURO 3.9 millionin the previous year to EURO 4.0 million. At EURO4.6 million,earnings before taxes (EBT), were more than four times higherthan the previous year's total of EURO 1.0 million. IXOSbenefited from the fact that there was no repeat of investmentlosses of -EURO 1.0 million related to mem IQ AG, since theGroup has sold its interest in this venture in Q3 last year. IXOSalso benefited from the improvement of the foreign currencyresult from -EURO1.9 million to EURO 0.4 million. ChiefFinancial Officer Peter Rau said, "This improvement in IXOS'results once again demonstrates our earnings power in adifficult economic environment. IXOS has succeeded in creatingan excellent basis for earnings growth thanks to a sustainedimprovement in productivity." Optimistic about H2 In the firsthalf of fiscal 2001/2002, the IXOS Group generated sales of EURO54.9 million (previous year: EURO 57.6 million) and an operatingresult (EBIT) of EURO 1.7 million (previous year EURO 1.6million). After making a loss of EURO1.1 million in the previousyear, IXOS produced a result of EURO 2.1 million before taxes.Interim profits were up from -EURO2.0 million to EURO 1.9million. This corresponds to an EPS of EURO 0.09 (-EURO 0.10).IXOS' Executive Board continues to be optimistic about the secondhalf. IXOS has increased its earnings growth forecast (EBIT)from 5 to 20%. One key reason for this is the increase in demandfor licenses. The Group is also expecting higher maintenance andservice revenues. In addition, increased productivity is playinga significant role in the improving results. The after-tax resultwill rise disproportionately due to the utilization of losscarryforwards.
