PRAGUE, April 2 (PROTEXT) - During the past few days,INTERNET OnLine completed development work on a map service forthe QUICK.cz portal, in co-operation with the companies GeodézieČS, a.s. and Dynatech, s.r.o. This service includes a searchfacility for streets and other selected points of interest inPrague, as well as in all regional cities of the Czech Republic.The maps can be displayed in various scales (the Czech Republicfrom 1: 4 000 000 to 1:50 000, cities from 1:50 000 to 1: 10000), in two different display qualities (JPG and PNG) and in sixsizes (from 480 x 300 to 1120 x 700). In the course of the nextfew months, further maps and applications will be added so thatthis new service can be the most attractive and easy-to-use forusers.The portal QUICK.CZ has also been enriched by a series of newinformation sources. The daily Qnews has been expanded with theaddition of news items from Hospodářské noviny and iHNED, theInternet server for economic news. Amongst the links to sources,you can also find items here from Lidové noviny, as well as fromthe BBC, ČTK and ČIA. QUICK users will certainly welcome Qfinancesection, where there is advice, instructions and informationconcerning the private finance sector (mortgage loans, tax onwages, exchange rates, offers from banks, etc.)In March, the new chat service Qchat (chat.quick.cz,) also becamevery popular, which, after very simple registration, offers entryto the CHAT and TALK sections. On selecting CHAT, a large numberof rooms are displayed with themes available. Visitors can alsocreate their own themes, after filling in a simple form. Forprivate conversations with one other person, some visitors preferthe TALK section. Its great advantages are ease-of-use, simplenavigation and clear graphics.The Qzábava section (Entertainment) has been expanded with theaddition of Qsoutěže (http://souteze.quick.cz) (Competitions),where there are questionnaires, quizzes and puzzles. Popularassessments of web pages have also appeared on the portal. ThePeople's Jury judges each month hundreds of registered web sitesand every three months experts choose winners from the monthlyrounds. The competition will come to a head at the PragueInternet World trade fair (12.4.2001) with the announcement ofthe final winners.INTERNET OnLine and the company M.I.A., a.s. prepared theQUICK.cz portal as part of a project for free connection to theInternet as of 1.10.2000.
