These moves are designed to further leveragethe company's management strength, build on its No. 1 globalmarket share position and enhance operating efficiencies. Lai Fuan Foo, managing director of the company's Asia-Pacificoperations, has been promoted to senior vice president, IngramMicro and president, Ingram Micro Asia-Pacific. Foo was the jointfounder in 1985 of Singapore-based distributor ElectronicResources Limited (ERL), which Ingram Micro acquired earlier thisyear. Foo built ERL into one of the largest and most profitableregional distributors in Asia-Pacific, with operations in ninecountries and 1998 revenues of more than U.S. $1 billion. In hisnew role, Foo will report to the office of the chairman. Gregory M. Spierkel has been promoted to executive vicepresident, Ingram Micro and president, Ingram Micro Europe. SinceJuly 1997, Spierkel has served as the senior vice president,Ingram Micro and president, Ingram Micro Asia-Pacific and wasinstrumental in the acquisition of ERL. He has more than 20 yearsof broad-ranging experience in global operations and managementand has succeeded in managing other complex and large-scaleoperations throughout the world prior to his tenure with IngramMicro. He will continue reporting to the office of the chairman. Robert D. Grambo will return to North America as executivevice president, Ingram Micro and chief operating officer, IngramMicro North America. He last served as executive vice president,Ingram Micro and president, Ingram Micro Europe. Grambo joinedIngram Micro in 1987 and has held executive roles in the areas ofpurchasing, product marketing and sales for the company's NorthAmerican region, where he helped lead the U.S. sales organizationin increasing revenue from $4.1 to $11.5 billion between 1994 and1997. In his new position, Grambo will report to Philip D.Ellett, executive vice president, Ingram Micro and president,Ingram Micro North America. To further align services with customers, the company istransitioning its Frameworks(TM), Total Integration Services(TM)into regional operations over the next 30 days. Frameworks, oneof the company's key strategic initiatives, delivers customized,fully tested computer systems to its reseller customers. As was originally planned, Frameworks now is ready to bedeployed to the regions under the leadership of the regionalpresidents. Ingram Micro has two ISO-9002-certified Frameworksintegration facilities: one in Memphis, Tenn., and the other inRosmalen, The Netherlands. In addition, the company has co-location facilities in Raleigh, N.C., and Houston, Texas andaccess to other locations around the world for reconfiguration,channel assembly, unbranded systems and contract manufacturing. Following completion of this 30-day integration process,Douglas R. Antone, executive vice president, Ingram Micro andpresident Frameworks(TM), Total Integration Services(TM), will beleaving the company. "Doug started with Ingram Micro five years ago as president ofIngram Alliance.
