Guardian Industries Announces Purchase of Partner's Equity in Siam Guardian

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (PROTEXT) - Guardian Industries Corp., oneof the largest manufacturers of float glass and fabricated glassproducts in the world, announced today the purchase of itspartner's equity in Siam Guardian Glass Co., Ltd. (SiamGuardian), increasing its existing commitment to Asian customersand the growth of the region. Siam Guardian was formed in 1990 asa joint venture between Guardian Industries and The Siam CementPublic Company Limited (Siam Cement), one of Thailand's leadingindustrial concerns. Guardian's purchase follows a decision bySiam Cement to narrow its focus to three core businesses. With float glass plants located in Saraburi Province, nearBangkok, and Rayong Province, on the eastern seaboard, Guardianmanufactures clear and colored float glass for the commercial andresidential construction markets and automotive markets. It alsooperates a mirror manufacturing line. All operations serve theentire Asia Pacific market area. Siam Guardian's plants combinewith Guardian's float glass manufacturing in India and SaudiArabia to provide all customers in the region access to a fullrange of Guardian glass products.
