Frost & Sullivan names NetCentrex worldwide leader with 41 pct market share of all softswitch-based Class 5 Application Servers

PARIS (France), SAN JOSE (USA, California) April 7(PROTEXT/PRNewswire) - Frost & Sullivan, an industry researchfirm, has recognized NetCentrex as the worldwide leader in theClass 5 Application Server market. NetCentrex represented 41percent of all lines deployed in 2004, more than twice that ofany other supplier, according to Frost & Sullivan's 2004 WorldVoIP Equipment Update published in March 2005.

The Application Server category includes softswitch-basedplatforms for IP Centrex and/or residential VoIP services. Themarket share analysis was based on aggregate reporting fromvendors over six quarters until the end of 2004. The primarymetric used to measure market share was "commercial linesin service", referring to subscriber licenses that have been soldand deployed. This metric is more accurate and conservative than"system capacity" or "licenses sold" which often include largeblocks of lines that are not in service.

EMEA (Europe, Middle-East and Africa) was thedominant region in 2004 with 50 pct of all shipments, followed byAsia Pacific with 28 pct and North America with 20 pct.
