CTK moves online to general newsdesk; Karel Petrak leaving after 16 years

Prague August 31st (PROTEXT) - Czech News Agency (CTK) CEO Jiri Majstr decided to move the Agency’s online unit to its integrated general newsdesk as of Sept 1, 2015. Unlike many news agencies, CTK publishes its own news website (Ceske Noviny, http://www.ceskenoviny.cz) and the main aims of this move are to interconnect all the news desks in one unit, improve coordination and sharing of know-how among different parts of the agency. The new set-up should also make it easier to use CTK‘s original in-house multimedia editorial system as a production tool for online and other products created by CTK.
Jiri Majstr has also announced that long-time head of the online unit Karel Petrak is leaving the CTK to pursue new opportunities. „Karel has worked for CTK for the last 16 years and he did marvellous job. I can only thank him and wish him all the best in his new pursuits.“
The new online desk will be headed by Jan Vavrusak, the current managing news editor, who will also keep his position in managing the general news desk.
