Coolhousing starts a proprietary CSIRT and applies for FENIX association membership

Prague September 25th (PROTEXT) - Coolhousing considers network security to be one of the most important commitments of internet service providers. Establishment of a proprietary CSIRT (Computer Security Incident Response Team) team, duly registered at the TF-CSIRT European authority is a major step to increase the security within Coolhousing autonomous system. This team will be responsible for dealing with major incidents.

Commitment to decrease the security risks in Coolhousing AS35592 autonomous system does not concern just the data center clients and its technologies, but is also - to the large extent - a responsibility of the provider himself. As in human healthcare, prevention is one of the most important attributes of computer network security, which is always better than dealing with potential problems, such as DDoS attacks.

To prevent and deal with security issues Coolhousing has had a team of experienced experts for a long time. In the second half of September this team was registered as official CSIRT team under the name Coolhousing CSIRT by the European TF-CSIRT as Trusted Introducer. Coolhousing therefore became an integral part of CSIRT.CZ, the small group of responsible inland internet service providers and university teams. CSIRT.CZ is an entity established as a result of the cooperation of the state ,CZ.NIC authority and several business company teams, such as O2 or Seznam.cz.

"Creation of a proprietary registered CSIRT team is one of the last pre-requisites we need to match before applying for membership in FENIX project in future," explains Karel Umlauf, Coolhousing company executive another reason why the company established its proprietary CSIRT team. FENIX is a secure and reliable inter-connection of several major local internet service providers within NIX.CZ peering node (so called "last chance connectivity").

"FENIX project ensures at least some connectivity in case of large DDoS attacks on internet infrastructure or networks of FENIX project members," added Karel Umlauf. In addition to above mentioned companies O2 and Seznam.cz, the current members of the FENIX projects are also Dial Telecom, CZ.NIC, Cesnet, ČD Telematika and other large Czech internet service providers.
