Representatives of the world's news agencies discussed Oct 11 topics including robot journalism, news service planning modules and other innovations firming media links at Prague's conference of MINDS International, a global network of more than twenty news agencies.

"MINDS allows its members to keep in touch with advanced agency trade methods, progressive technology and modern newsroom practices, and to enter foreign markets directly," said Jaroslav Kabele, the Czech News Agency's (CTK) head of strategy and development.

CTK, a founding member of MINDS, uses this opportunity, too, Kabele said.

At the conference today, CTK presented its system of automatically generated news articles, which was first used in commercial operation during the October 5-6 local and Senate elections.

CTK has long been using automation where it is possible and makes sense, director general Jiri Majstr said.

"We have been automatically releasing daily schedules of expected events for years and updated graphic visualisations for more than one year. Now we prepared news articles with election results to make the election service even faster," he said.

"This is development for us, not revolution," Majstr said.

The Prague conference is attended by 70 representatives of the world's news agencies.

Members of MINDS International, founded in 2007, include the Associated Press American agency, the French AFP, the German DPA, the British PA, the Australian AAP, the Austrian APA, as well as CTK.

The two-day conference starting in Prague today takes place in connection with the 100th anniversary of the CTK establishment celebrated this year.

The Czech News Agency was founded on the same day as Czechoslovakia, on October 28, 1918.
