(PROTEXT) - Concert Internet Backbone Servicegetting a significant boost in European bandwidth this month,bolstering the company's growing role in the European Internetbackbone market. Concert is integrating bandwidth from BritishTelecommunications' (BT) new Pan-European fiber into its Internetbackbone and, as a result, will be able to support Internetservice providers (ISPs) and large multinational companies whohave high bandwidth applications. Last month, BT and its European Alliance Partners launched thePan-European Network. The fastest, highest-capacity pan-Europeannetwork in the marketplace, it offers access to near-unlimitedbandwidth and advanced services. It is also the most extensivenetwork of its kind, connecting more than 200 cities in majorEuropean markets. Concert Internet Backbone Service is the first commerciallyavailable service to integrate the Pan-European Network bandwidthinto its backbone. "This illustrates Concert's commitment to theEuropean Internet backbone market and to delivering acomprehensive portfolio of Internet services," said Nancy Gofus,Concert's Chief Operating Officer. ISPs outside of Europe will also benefit from this new networkcapacity. ISPs located in areas where Internet backbone servicesare not readily accessible are using BT's International PrivateCircuit Services. "ISPs in places such as the Ukraine are nowselling high quality Internet access services within theirdomestic markets, and their customers can now also experiencefirst-rate Internet performance," said Gerry Spencer, Director ofBT's Marketing & International Services. Concert Internet Backbone Service is designed for largeInternet service providers and content providers who requiredirect connectivity to a global Internet backbone with extensivepeering agreements and interconnection with other major Internetbackbone networks in Europe and the United States. Customers canaccess the service at high speeds, including T3. The Concertservice features major peering links with Unisource, UUnet, Eboneand EUnet in Europe, as well as multiple peering arrangements inNorth America.
