Montgomerie Sweep to Victories on Four Tours CARLSBAD, Calif. (ots-PRNewswire) - In an unprecedentedachievement for Callaway Golf (NYSE: ELY), four of the company'sstaff professionals were victorious on major professional tourson the same weekend. Colin Montgomerie began the torrid Callawayrun with a PGA European Tour victory at Loch Lomond in Scotlandon Saturday. On Sunday, Dave Eichelberger won the U.S. SeniorOpen at Des Moines Golf and Country Club, while Carlos Francotook the Greater Milwaukee Open on the PGA Tour and AnnikaSorenstam won on the third hole of a sudden death playoff at theMichelob Light Classic on the LPGA Tour. Each of the four champions used Callaway's new Great BigBertha(R) Hawk Eye(R) Titanium Driver in their victories --producing a "Brand Slam" for Callaway Golf's latest breakthroughproduct -- and each also used Big Bertha(R) X-12(R) Irons. Tothe best of the Company's knowledge, this is the first time inhistory that the same brand of driver and irons has been used bythe winners of four such prestigious tournaments in a singleweek. For Sorenstam, the return to the winner's circle after a nine-month absence was highlighted by exceptional ball-striking. Inher final round of 2-under-par 70, Sorenstam played the final 14holes in 4-under par, rallying from four strokes behind to catchTina Barrett in regulation play. She then birdied the thirdplayoff hole to win her third straight Michelob Light Classictitle. Sorenstam used 10 Callaway clubs, including a Great Big BerthaHawk Eye Titanium Driver, Big Bertha Steelhead 3-wood and 7-woodand Big Bertha X-12 Irons. Franco's second PGA Tour victory of the season was anotherball-striking clinic. His 72-hole total of 20-under par was atournament record, and the victory pushed his 1999 earnings to$1.38 million. Franco, 34, used 12 Callaway clubs, including aGreat Big Bertha Hawk Eye Titanium Driver, a Big Bertha Steelhead2-wood and Big Bertha X-12 irons. "I had a lot of confidence this week," said Franco, who is thefirst rookie in PGA Tour history to win more than $1 million in aseason. "There was no nervousness."
