Callaway Golf Continues Torrid Tour Win Streak With Olin

Browne Victory at Colonial CARLSBAD, Calif. (PROTEXT) - With his victory at theMasterCard Colonial this past weekend, Callaway Golf (NYSE: ELY)Staff Professional Olin Browne became the seventh Callaway GolfStaff Professional to win on one of the world's five major toursin the last five weeks. Browne scorched Colonial Country Clubwith a pair of 66s over the final 36 holes to win his second PGATour title. Less than a year earlier, Browne had earned his firstPGA Tour victory by winning the Canon Greater Hartford Open. "To win at Colonial, where there is a real premium on ball-striking, is something I'm very proud of," said Browne, whoturned 40 on Saturday. "I was really hitting my driver andfairway woods great, and I was in control of my iron play." Inregistering his 8-under-par total of 272 at Colonial, Browne used12 Callaway golf clubs, including a Great Big Bertha(R) HawkEye(R) Titanium Driver, Big Bertha(R) Steelhead(TM) 3-wood and 4-wood and Big Bertha X-12(R) Irons. Browne's main weapons in his assault on "Hogan's Alley" werehis Big Bertha Steelhead Fairway Woods. In the final round, heeagled the par-5 first hole after hitting his Steelhead 4-wood to20 feet, then added another eagle with a huge second shot on thepar-5 11th hole -- reaching the 11th green with his Steelhead 3-wood from 286 yards out to set up his 40-foot eagle putt. Playingseveral groups ahead of the leaders, those two eagles gave Brownthe breathing room he needed to claim victory over five golferswho finished one stroke back. Browne's victory earned him $504,000 -- the largest check ofhis career and enough to move him into the top 40 of the PGA Tourmoney list. He also earned a return invitation to the MercedesChampionships, the winners-only event he qualified for but missedthis year due to off-season elbow surgery. Callaway Golf Staff Professionals have now collected more than$2 million in winners' checks over the past five weeks. Thatincludes victories by Jesper Parnevik (Greater GreensboroChrysler Classic), Bruce Fleisher (Home Depot Invitational),Rachel Hetherington (Chick-fil-A Charity Championship, City ofHope Myrtle Beach Classic), Carlos Franco (Compaq Classic), ColinMontgomerie (Benson and Hedges International Open) and Browne. In addition, Callaway Golf Staff Professionals also continueto win on other tours around the world. Callaway Golf StaffProfessional Kyi Hla Han won the Volvo China Open in Shanghailast weekend. Han used a Callaway titanium driver, Big BerthaSteelhead 4-wood, Big Bertha X-12 Irons and an Odyssey(R) DualForce(R) Rossie I Putter to post a commanding seven-strokevictory. Han, 38, opened his final round with a spectacular runof five consecutive birdies. "The key was driving the ball welland setting myself up perfectly in the fairway," said Han, whosevictory vaulted him to second place on the Asian Order of Meritmoney list.
