One of the World's 100 Best-Managed Companies
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (PROTEXT) - Lear Corporation (NYSE: LEA) is
on the fourth annual list of IndustryWeek's 100 Best-Managed
Companies. Chosen by editors at IndustryWeek (IW) Magazine, the
list includes the world's 100 best managed companies. The report
appears in the today's issue of IndustryWeek.
Candidates for IndustryWeek's 100 Best-Managed Companies were
culled from the IndustryWeek 1000, a list of the world's largest
publicly held manufacturing companies based on revenues. Waltham,
Mass.-based Primark supplied the data for the IW 1000, which was
published in June.
Each company was selected after a lengthy evaluation that
included the following four steps: analysis of the company's
financial performance; review of a questionnaire that each IW
1000 company was given an opportunity to complete; research into
each company's practices in areas such as philanthropy and
safety; and voting by a panel of more than 100 business leaders,
analysts, and academicians.
"The Lear organization is honored by this recognition. The
entire Lear team is responsible for the success Lear has
achieved," said Kenneth L. Way, Lear Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer. "While we're pleased with our selection by IndustryWeek,
we know that the competitive global business climate requires
that we work even harder to ensure that Lear remains a well-
managed company capable of competing into the next century."
"IndustryWeek's 100 Best-Managed Companies demonstrate
superior, consistent financial performance," says John Brandt,
editor-in-chief of IW. "We also honor these companies for
investing heavily in such areas as research and development, new
markets, employees and society."
Fourteen countries are represented on this year's list: the
United States (69 companies), the United Kingdom (7), Japan (5),
Germany (4), Switzerland (3), Finland (2), Mexico (2), India (2),
Ireland (1), Denmark (1), Canada (1), France (1), Singapore (1),
and the Netherlands (1).
IndustryWeek's 100 Best-Managed Companies will be recognized
at the 100 Best-Managed Companies Awards Celebration and
Executive Summit at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson,
Arizona, on February 28 - March 1, 2000.
