Solution From Baan Company
Atlanta (PROTEXT) - Software to Support New 'Dedicated' and
'Load Management' Business, Increase Flexibility, Generate
Solutions Across Multiple Complex Supply Chains And Yield Higher
Margins.
Baan Company N.V. (Amsterdam: BAAN; Nasdaq: BAANF), today
announced that its CAPS Logistics division has signed an
enterprise software license agreement with Ruan Transportation, a
leading U.S.-based transportation management services company.
The agreement, which was signed in the first quarter of 1999,
provides Ruan with TransPro(TM) and Supply Chain Suite(TM)
licenses. Ruan will use TransPro to manage its business and
further develop its transportation management business, and will
use the Supply Chain Suite to help manage the company's
sophisticated supply chain processes. Ruan expects to begin the
software rollout in August of 1999.
"We have two goals for the CAPS Logistics implementation which
supports our strategic plan to grow our transportation
management," said Carl H. Waldenmeaier, Jr., Vice President --
Supply Chain Solutions, Ruan Transportation. "First, we will use
TransPro to optimize the transportation (LTL, private fleet,
dedicated fleet or carrier) for our contract load management
business. Second, we will use the Supply Chain Suite across
Sales, Marketing and Operations as a strategic tool to gain more
business. We want to see ROI with improved customer service and
reduced operating costs, and are confident we will shortly with
the CAPS Logistics products."
CAPS Logistics' TransPro optimizes even complex operational
transportation plans. From mode and carrier selection to shipment
consolidation to vehicle routing and scheduling, TransPro
generates smart decisions and rescues shipping costs. It also
features a wide variety of rating data structures and a memory
resident rating engine for fast, flexible shipment costing.
When looking for software and considering CAPS Logistics, Ruan
Transportation also considered i2, Manugistics, Descartes,
Insight and Saber. Ruan was meticulous in its software vendor
selection process, because as a transportation management
provider, it must deploy a software solution that would satisfy
the needs of multiple industries. CAPS Logistics' software
offered the greatest capabilities for what Ruan needed to
accomplish, including robust engines (or algorithms) used for
doing the analysis work behind the scenes.
"With TransPro and the Supply Chain Suite from CAPS Logistics,
Ruan Transportation will be able to enjoy the benefits of working
with more complex supply chains, which often yield superior
margins," said Katrina Roche, General Manager of Baan Supply
Chain Solutions. "With the completion of this implementation,
CAPS Logistics will also help Ruan Transportation grow as a
company by allowing them to enter into a more profitable business
line."
