HLUBOKA NAD VLTAVOU, June 2 (PROTEXT) - In the tradition of
intense sporting events in breathtaking natural terrain around
the world, and in the spirit of the motto: "Live more", we
present competitions which combine swimming, mountain biking in
extreme conditions, and a rough terrain run.
The number of XTERRA events around the world has grown
dramatically over the past several years, and similar to America
and Australia, we're preparing our own continental circuit - the
XTERRA European Tour 2003 - with 40,000 in prize money.
The XTERRA European Tour 2003 consists of three European
competitions:
XTERRA Czech, Hluboká, XTERRA Nederland, Kijkduijn and XTERRA
Deutschland, Titisee. Each of these competitions is also a
qualification event for the XTERRA World Championship in Maui,
Hawaii in 2003.

XTERRA European Tour 2003 Points Series:
The three events (Czech, Netherland and Deutschland) combine
to produce the overall ranking for the XTERRA European Tour 2003
and crown the XTERRA European Champion at the end of the 2003
season.
Competition is split up into men and women:
Elite-open, age-groups 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49,
50-54, 55-59, 60-...
Points will be awarded in the following manner:
PRO: (place- points) 1.- 100, 2.- 90, 3.-82, ..15.- 28
AGE GROUP: (place- points) 1.- 100, 2.- 90, 3.-82,.10.- 45
Each competitor who finishes at least one race in the series
is ranked. It is not necessary to sign up for the series ranking,
or to pay extra registration fees.
Prize-money for the XTERRA European Tour 2003:
10,000 in bonuses is paid at each of the individual
competitions, and the top ranked athletes overall in the XTERRA
European Tour 2003 will also receive financial rewards. The top
three scoring pro-men and pro-women after the series ends in
Germany will earn the series purse as follows; 2,500 for 1st,
1,500 for 2nd, and 1,000 for 3rd.
Television Coverage
A one-hour XTERRA European Tour feature television show will
focus on the three events, their venues and athletes -
incorporating footage from each race. The show will be produced
by TEAM Unlimited and distributed throughout Europe. In a
separate broadcast, the 2003 Nissan Xterra World Championship
will also be aired in Europe this year.
TEAM Unlimited has produced 150 television shows and won 19
Telly Awards and 3 Emmy Awards for television production
excellence, and is the owner and producer of the XTERRA Global
Tour.
In 2004, the XTERRA European Tour will dramatically increase
in scope to feature ten national championships throughout Europe
and a stand-alone XTERRA European Championship event.
