SCI Selected to Build Printers For HP in Hungary

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (PROTEXT) - SCI Systems, Inc. (NYSE: SCI)
("SCI") of Huntsville Ala. confirmed today that it has been
selected by Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE: HWP) ("HP"), Palo
Alto, Calif., to build inkjet printers on a finished product
basis in Hungary.
SCI said that initial production will begin in June of 1999.
The products will be manufactured at SCI's plant in Tatabanya,
Hungary, which will be expanded to accommodate this, and other,
recently acquired new business. SCI will perform finished product
assembly and test.
This follows the announcement last month confirming a similar
production agreement with HP for printers being manufactured at
an SCI facility in Guadalajara, Mexico. SCI's President & COO, A.
E. Sapp, stated that, "we are pleased to be able to assist our
customer with this multinational approach to providing cost-
effective manufacturing in this product area." He added that,
"the selection of Central Europe as the locale for this program
and the necessity to expand such a relatively new facility
confirm the long-term viability and attractiveness of SCI's
Hungarian location."
