US Airways Expands In-Flight Entertainment Options, by

Adding EuroNews and Exclusive - The History Channel Series
ARLINGTON, Va. (ots-PRNewswire) - US Airways has enhanced its
menu of in-flight entertainment by adding EuroNews to its
programming schedule, and beginning in May, US Airways will begin
airing The History Channel's -- "The Century: America's Time."
EuroNews -- Europe's leading news and information channel --
now is being shown on all of US Airways' transatlantic flights,
both to and from Europe. EuroNews is available to US Airways'
travelers in five languages: English, French, German, Italian,
and Spanish. US Airways currently is the only airline offering
EuroNews programming on its transatlantic flights.
In May, US Airways will bring passengers a little closer to
yesterday when it airs The History Channel's 15-part series
looking back at the accomplishments and events in the United
States during the last 100 years. The series premiered in April
on The History Channel.
The series is hosted by Peter Jennings and examines everything
from daily life in 1900 to today's world culture, and will be
shown exclusively on US Airways' longer domestic flights. US
Airways will be the only airline offering this exciting series as
part of its in-flight entertainment package.
"By adding these two highly distinguished programs to our in-
flight entertainment line-up, we bring greater educational scope
to our programming," said Rita M. Cuddihy, US Airways' vice
president of customer products and services. "We are confident
that these programs will heighten the level of enjoyment
experienced by our customers."
Other entertainment programs featured on US Airways' flights
include:
- Two hours of A&E, featuring biographies that profile the
lives of famed people such as magician David Copperfield and
informative programs such as Romantic Palaces of Venice.
- The History Channel, featuring original documentaries, epic
mini series, and in-depth stories such as the history of the
roller coaster and the history of the White House.
- The Hallmark Entertainment Network, renowned for the
Hallmark Hall of Fame, features shows such as The Love Letter and
Old Man as a feature film from Europe.
- PBS informs and entertains travelers with high-quality,
non-commercial, special programming such as The Statue of Liberty
and a Carpenters performance.
- ESPN Classics provides a nostalgic look at sports, offering
15 minute and 30 minute features that highlight the lives of
legends such as Sugar Ray Leonard and Joe Namath.
- The Comedy Tape features a potpourri of situation comedies,
including The Drew Carey Show, Friends and classic programs such
as M*A*S*H and Night Court. Byron Allen, most remembered for Real
People, provides short interviews with stars like Nicholas Cage,
Jeff Goldblum, Rosie O'Donnell and many others.
- The Sports Tape features documentary-type programs of
sports figures such as tennis star Carlos Moya, and extreme
sports highlights in the High Five Series. Golfing World provides
a look at golf resorts and tips to improve skills.
Other programming includes first-run movies such as Patch
Adams with Robin Williams; Meet Joe Black with Brad Pitt and
Anthony Hopkins; You've Got Mail with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan;
Stepmom with Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts; Enemy Of The State
with Will Smith and Gene Hackman; Message In A Bottle starring
Kevin Costner and Robin Wright Penn; A Civil Action with John
Travolta and Robert Duvall; and Star Trek: Insurrection with
Patrick Stewart and Levar Burton.
