Odyssey(R) is No. 1 at PGA Seniors' Championship
CARLSBAD, Calif. (PROTEXT) - The winner of the PGA Tour MCI
Classic used a putter made by Odyssey Golf, a division of
Callaway Golf Company (NYSE: ELY), to sink a dramatic 35-foot
birdie putt on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff at
Harbour Town Golf Links. The winner used an Odyssey Dual Force
330 putter with the company's patented Stronomic insert to claim
his first career PGA Tour victory, $450,000, to move into the top
20 on the PGA Tour money list.
Meanwhile, Odyssey putters were the No. 1 putter at the PGA
Seniors' Championship in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. A total of 52
competitors at the second major championship of the Senior PGA
Tour season used Odyssey putters, compared to 23 for the nearest
competitor, Never Compromise. Odyssey putters have been the most-
played putter on the Senior PGA Tour in 1999, with 27.5 percent
of the putter count, according to the Darrell Survey.
Overall, Odyssey putters are also the most-played putters on
the world's five major tours combined, according to the Darrell
Survey. Through April 18, 1999, Odyssey had accounted for 26.1
percent of the putters put in play on the PGA, Senior PGA, LPGA,
NIKE and PGA European tours.
