TC TrustCenter makes WAP applications secure
19.01.2000, 20:24
Hamburg 19. ledna (PROTEXT) - TC TrustCenter - one of
Germany's leading companies for Internet security - is now
providing certificates for secure WAP applications. This will
enable users of digital cellular phones to make encrypted online
purchases, buy and sell shares and conduct secure mobile bank
transactions.
WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) is a global open standard
for digital cellular phones and other mobile devices. WAP enables
fast and easy access to specially prepared website content.
With WAP certificates, TC TrustCenter is providing the basic
framework for the breakthrough of cellular phones as a universal
e-commerce medium. Certificates enable the encryption of
sensitive data, not only for computer-based Internet applications
but also for online applications used with digital cellular
phones.
This new service enables TC TrustCenter clients to get a step
ahead by preparing for the forecast explosive growth of the WAP
market.
The first application, which is currently being implemented
together with the Deutsche Bank and Nokia will be running in a
pilot project starting in february. "Very soon all technical
prerequisites will be established to offer customers of Deutsche
Bank 24 the possibility to trade shares securely with the aid of
a WAP-enabled device, e.g. a Nokia 7110" says Dr. Robert
Buchholz, Vice President, Global Technology & Services (GTS) of
the Deutsche Bank.
E-commerce providers with WAP servers can enrol for a free
demo certificate at www.trustcenter.de.
