Exxon Mobil Corporation today announced nine corporate
department managers and 13 presidents of corporate divisions and
affiliates, including the election of 15 corporate vice
presidents.
Corporate Departments
Donald D. Humphreys was elected vice president and controller
of Exxon Mobil Corporation. Before the merger, Mr. Humphreys had
served as vice president and controller of Exxon Corporation
since 1997.
Mr. Humphreys joined Exxon in 1976 as a systems analyst in
Exxon Chemical Company. He has served in various financial,
systems and auditing assignments in Exxon Chemical Company, Exxon
Company U.S.A., Exxon Company, International in Malaysia and in
Exxon Corporation headquarters. Mr. Humphreys holds a Bachelor of
Science degree in industrial engineering and management from
Oklahoma State University and an MBA degree from the Wharton
School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Timothy J. Hearn was elected vice president, human resources,
of Exxon Mobil Corporation. Before the merger, Mr. Hearn had
served as vice president, human resources, of Exxon Corporation
since 1998.
Mr. Hearn joined Exxon's Canadian affiliate, Imperial Oil, as
a marketing representative in 1967. He served in a number of
management assignments in marketing, logistics, and systems and
computer services in Imperial, as well as management assignments
with Exxon Chemical Company in Houston and Singapore before being
named executive assistant to the chairman of Exxon. Mr. Hearn
earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of
Manitoba.
T. Peter Townsend was elected vice president, investor
relations and corporate secretary of Exxon Mobil Corporation. He
was vice president of investor relations and secretary of Exxon
Corporation before the merger.
Mr. Townsend joined Exxon Corporation in 1962. He has held a
variety of financial, planning and public affairs management
assignments with the Corporation and its operating companies in
the U.S., Europe and Asia Pacific areas. He was elected vice
president of investor relations in 1990 and corporate secretary
in 1995. Mr. Townsend holds a Bachelor of Science degree from
Yale University and an MBA degree from the Graduate School of
Business at the University of Chicago.
Charles W. Matthews, Jr., was elected vice president and
general counsel of Exxon Mobil Corporation. Before the merger, he
had served as vice president and general counsel of Exxon
Corporation since 1995.
Mr. Matthews joined the litigation section of Exxon's law
department in 1971. He has served in a number of regional and
headquarters law department management assignments in Exxon USA
and Exxon Corporation. Mr. Matthews is a 1967 graduate of the
University of Texas and received his law degree from the
University of Houston in 1970.
Frank B. Sprow was elected vice president, safety, health and
environment of Exxon Mobil Corporation. Before the merger, Mr.
Sprow had served as vice president, environment and safety, of
Exxon Corporation since 1995.
Mr. Sprow joined Exxon USA as an engineer at the Baytown,
Texas refinery in 1965. He has held a number of management
positions in Exxon USA's refining department and supply
department. He also held several management positions in Exxon
Research and Engineering Company. Mr. Sprow received his
bachelor's and master's degrees in chemical engineering from
Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his Ph.D. in chemical
engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.
Paul E. Sullivan was elected vice president and general tax
counsel of Exxon Mobil Corporation. Before the merger, Mr.
Sullivan had served as vice president and general tax counsel of
Exxon Corporation since 1995.
Mr. Sullivan joined Exxon in 1969. He served in a number of
positions of increasing responsibility before being named general
tax counsel of Exxon Chemical Company. He also served as general
tax counsel of Exxon USA. Mr. Sullivan received a bachelor's
degree in accounting from the University of Maine and a doctor of
law degree from Boston College Law School.
Frank A. Risch was elected vice president and treasurer of
Exxon Mobil Corporation. Before the merger, he had served as vice
president and treasurer of Exxon Corporation since January 1999.
Mr. Risch joined Exxon Corporation as a financial analyst in
the treasurer's department in 1966. He served in a number of
assignments in finance, planning and marketing in Exxon and its
operating affiliates in London, Athens and Seattle. He held
several management positions in Exxon Chemical Company before
serving as executive assistant to the chairman of Exxon
Corporation. He also served as assistant controller and assistant
treasurer of Exxon Corporation. Mr. Risch received a bachelor's
degree in business administration from Pennsylvania State
University and a master's degree in industrial administration
from Carnegie Mellon University.
P. C. Tan was elected general manager, corporate planning of
Exxon Mobil Corporation. Before the merger, he was chairman and
managing director of Mobil Oil Australia. He succeeds R. A.
Brenneman.
Mr. Tan joined Mobil Oil in Singapore in 1970. He served in a
number of developmental assignments in Singapore, the U.S. and
Australia and has served in management assignments in refining,
manufacturing and supply. He was vice president and general
manager of Mobil Technology Company before being named chairman
and general manager of Mobil Oil Australia in 1996. Mr. Tan
received a Bachelor of Science degree in applied chemistry from
the University of Singapore and an MBA degree from New York
University.
Kenneth P. Cohen was elected vice president, public affairs of
Exxon Mobil Corporation. Before the merger, Mr. Cohen had served
as general counsel of Exxon Chemical Company since 1995. He
succeeds Anthony W. Atkiss.
Mr. Cohen joined Exxon USA.s law department in 1977. He has
held a variety of management assignments in Exxon USA Public
Affairs and in the law departments of Exxon USA, Exxon Company,
International and Exxon Corporation. Mr. Cohen did his
undergraduate work at Northwestern University and earned his JD
degree from Baylor Law School, where he was editor-in-chief of
the Baylor Law Review. He earned his LL.M. degree from Yale Law
School.
Upstream Organization
The ExxonMobil Upstream organization will include five
upstream companies that will be functionally oriented. Functional
headquarters and centralized technology efforts for the upstream
companies will be located in Houston. Additional coordination
activities and some centralized technology efforts will be
located in the United Kingdom and in Singapore.
The five upstream companies are ExxonMobil Exploration
Company, ExxonMobil Development Company, ExxonMobil Production
Company, ExxonMobil Gas Marketing Company and ExxonMobil Upstream
Research Company.
Jon L. Thompson was appointed president of ExxonMobil
Exploration Company and was elected a vice president of Exxon
Mobil Corporation. Before the merger, he had served as a vice
president of Exxon Corporation and as president of Exxon
Exploration Company since it was organized in 1992.
Mr. Thompson joined Exxon Company, U.S.A. in 1962 as a
geologist in New Orleans. He served in a number of field geology
and supervisory assignments in Louisiana, California, the
northern Rocky Mountains and Alaska. He also served in a number
of exploration management assignments with Exxon USA, Esso
Exploration and Production U.K., Exxon Company, International and
Exxon Corporation. Mr. Thompson holds bachelor.s and master.s
degrees in geology from the University of Florida.
Steve M. Cassiani, formerly executive vice president of Exxon
Exploration Company, and John Cousins, formerly general manager
of Mobil North Sea Limited, are executive vice presidents of
ExxonMobil Exploration Company.
Morris E. Foster is president of ExxonMobil Development
Company. Prior to the merger, he was president of Exxon Upstream
Development Company.
Mr. Foster joined Exxon USA in 1965 and held a number of
field, staff and management positions in the U.S., the U.K. and
Malaysia. While in Malaysia, he received the Paduka Mahkota
Awards from the Sultan of Terengganu and the Sultan of Perak. Mr.
Foster was named president of Exxon Upstream Development Company
when the company was organized in 1998. Mr. Foster is a
mechanical engineering graduate of Texas A&M University.
Rex W. Tillerson, formerly vice president, production of Exxon
Ventures (CIS), will be executive vice president of ExxonMobil
Development Company.
Stuart R. McGill was appointed president of ExxonMobil Gas
Marketing Company and was elected a vice president of Exxon Mobil
Corporation. Before the merger, he had served as president of
Exxon Company, International since 1998.
Mr. McGill joined Esso Australia Ltd. in 1969 as an engineer
in the production department. He has held various engineering,
planning, supply, transportation and management assignments with
Exxon affiliates and operating divisions in Australia, Malaysia,
the Netherlands and the U.S. He served as executive assistant to
the chairman of Exxon Corporation in 1991. Mr. McGill holds a
bachelor's degree and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Sydney
University.
K. Terry Koonce has been appointed president of ExxonMobil
Production Company and has been elected a vice president of Exxon
Mobil Corporation. Before the merger, Mr. Koonce had served as
president and chief executive officer Exxon Ventures (CIS) Inc.,
Exxon's operating region for exploration and production in the
former Soviet Union, since 1993 when the company became an
operating affiliate.
Mr. Koonce joined Exxon Production Research Company as a
senior research engineer in 1963. He has held a variety of
management assignments in both the production and research
organizations of Exxon affiliates and operating divisions in the
U.S. and Canada. Mr. Koonce received both his bachelor's and
Ph.D. degrees in chemical engineering at Rice University.
M. William (Bill) Scoggins, formerly executive vice president
and member of the executive committee of Mobil Oil Corporation,
president of Mobil's International Exploration and Producing
business unit, and chairman of Mobil's global upstream
coordinating council, is executive vice president of ExxonMobil
Production Company. Ansel L. Condray, formerly president of Exxon
USA, is chairman and production director of ExxonMobil
International Limited.
Dan Mendell, III, was appointed president of ExxonMobil
Upstream Research Company and ExxonMobil Upstream Technical
Computing Company. Before the merger, Mr. Mendell had served as
president of Exxon Production Research Company and Exxon Upstream
Technical Computing Company since 1993.
Mr. Mendell joined Exxon as a drilling engineer in New Orleans
in 1961. Mr. Mendell progressed through a variety of field and
headquarters engineering, planning and management assignments and
served as vice president of Exxon U.S.A.'s Production Department
from 1989 through 1993. Mr. Mendell holds a bachelor's degree in
chemical engineering from the University of Texas.
Downstream Organization
The ExxonMobil Downstream organization will include four
downstream companies that will be functionally oriented. All four
of the companies will be based in Fairfax, Virginia. Key regional
offices will be located in Fairfax; Coral Gables, Florida;
Houston, Texas; Brussels, Belgium; Tokyo, Japan; Singapore,
Canada and the United Kingdom.
The four downstream companies are ExxonMobil Refining and
Supply Company; ExxonMobil Fuels Marketing Company; ExxonMobil
Lubricants and Petroleum Specialties Company and ExxonMobil
Research and Engineering Company.
J. Stephen (Steve) Simon has been appointed president of
ExxonMobil Refining & Supply Company and has been elected a vice
president of Exxon Mobil Corporation. Before the merger, Mr.
Simon had served as executive vice president of Exxon Company,
International since 1997.
Mr. Simon joined Exxon U.S.A. in 1967. He has held, both
within the U.S. and internationally, a number of supervisory,
coordination and management positions, including Manager of the
Baton Rouge Refinery, Supply and Transportation Manager for Esso
Europe and Exxon U.S.A., executive assistant to the President of
Exxon Corporation, General Manager of Esso Caribbean and Central
America, and President of Esso Italiana. Mr. Simon holds a
Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Duke
University and an MBA degree from Northwestern University.
Denny M. Houston, formerly vice president, supply and
transportation, Exxon Company, International, is executive vice
president of ExxonMobil Refining & Supply Company.
Hal R. Cramer has been appointed president of ExxonMobil Fuels
Marketing Company and has been elected a vice president of Exxon
Mobil Corporation. Before the merger, Mr. Cramer served as
executive vice president and chief financial officer of Mobil
Corporation, and member of the executive committee of Mobil Oil.
Mr. Cramer joined Mobil in 1973. He has held a wide range of
management assignments in marketing, planning, refining & supply
and financial activities with Mobil operating divisions in the
U.S. and with Mobil affiliates responsible for refining and
marketing activities in Latin America, Europe, Africa, and the
Pacific Rim. Mr. Cramer holds a bachelor's degree in industrial
engineering from Syracuse University and an MBA degree from the
State University of New York at Albany.
Bob L. Rich, formerly senior vice president, downstream
business and a member of the management committee of Exxon USA is
executive vice president of ExxonMobil Fuels Marketing Company.
Steve D. Pryor has been appointed president of ExxonMobil
Lubricants and Petroleum Specialties Company and has been elected
a vice president of Exxon Mobil Corporation. Before the merger,
Mr. Pryor had served as executive vice president of Mobil Oil
Corporation, president of international marketing and refining
and a member of Mobil Oil's executive committee since 1997. He
also served as chairman of Mobil's downstream council and was
responsible for Mobil's worldwide lubricants business.
Mr. Pryor joined Mobil in 1971 in the U.S. marketing division.
He has held various executive assignments in Mobil's marketing
and refining operations in the U.S., New Zealand, the U.K. and
Cyprus; Mobil Chemical Company; and Mobil Asia Pacific. He holds
a bachelor's degree in biology from Lafayette College and an MBA
degree from Harvard Business School.
Jim F. Marcogliese, formerly manager of Exxon Company,
International's lubricants and specialties department, is
executive vice president of ExxonMobil Lubricants and Petroleum
Specialties Company.
R. K. (Bill) Innes has been appointed president of ExxonMobil
Research and Engineering Company. Before the merger, Mr. Innes
had served as president of Exxon Research and Engineering Company
since 1998.
Mr. Innes joined the chemical department of Exxon affiliate
Imperial Oil in Toronto, Canada in 1965. Mr. Innes has held a
variety of engineering, supply and management positions with
Exxon chemical, and refining and marketing affiliates in Canada,
Europe and Japan. Mr. Innes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in
chemical engineering from the University of Birmingham, England.
Michael P. (Mike) Ramage, formerly executive vice president,
chief technology officer and member of the executive committee of
Mobil Oil Corporation and president of Mobil Technology Company,
is executive vice president of ExxonMobil Research and
Engineering Company.
Chemical; Coal and Minerals; Imperial; Global Services
Daniel S. Sanders has been appointed president of ExxonMobil
Chemical Company and has been elected a vice president of Exxon
Mobil Corporation. Before the merger, he served as president of
Exxon Chemical Company.
Mr. Sanders joined Exxon as an engineer at Baton Rouge in
1961. He has held a variety of engineering and supervisory
assignments in refining and chemicals and has served as executive
assistant to the chairman of Exxon Corporation. He also has held
a number of management assignments in Exxon Chemical Company,
Exxon USA and Exxon Corporation. Mr. Sanders holds a bachelor's
degree in mechanical engineering from the University of South
Carolina.
Ray J. McGowan and E. G. Galante have been named executive
vice presidents of ExxonMobil Chemical Company. Mr. McGowan was
formerly executive vice president of Mobil Oil Corporation and
president of Mobil Chemical Company. Mr. Galante was formerly
executive vice president of Exxon Chemical Company.
Joe T. McMillan was appointed president of ExxonMobil Coal and
Minerals Company. Before the merger, he had served as president
of Exxon Coal and Minerals Company since 1997.
Mr. McMillan joined Exxon USA as an engineer at the Baton
Rouge refinery in 1958. He has held a variety of engineering,
supervisory and management assignments in refining, supply and
marketing in the U.S. and Europe. Mr. McMillan holds a bachelor's
degree in chemical engineering from Auburn University.
Bob B. Peterson is chairman, president and chief executive
officer of Imperial Oil Limited, Exxon's affiliate in Canada.
Mr. Peterson joined the producing department of Imperial Oil
in 1960 and held a variety of assignments with Imperial and its
affiliates in Canada and the U.S. He became president and chief
operating officer of Imperial in 1988, chairman and chief
executive officer in 1992 and chairman, president and chief
executive officer in 1994. He earned his bachelor's and master's
degrees in chemical engineering from Queen's University.
G. L. (Jerry) Kohlenberger is president of the newly formed
ExxonMobil Global Services Company, located in Dallas. Mr.
Kohlenberger also is vice president of Global Information
Services, located in Fairfax, Virginia. ExxonMobil Global
Services Company will be responsible for information services,
procurement and real estate services for Exxon Mobil Corporation.
Before the merger, Mr. Kohlenberger had served as general manager
of Global Information Systems, Mobil Business Resources
Corporation and chief information officer for Mobil Oil
Corporation since 1998.
Mr. Kohlenberger joined Mobil as a project engineer at the
Torrance, California, refinery in 1974. He has held a variety of
project engineering, planning, supply and technical/maintenance
supervisory and management assignments in Mobil's marketing and
refining organization in the U.S. and Singapore and in Mobil
Technology Company. Mr. Kohlenberger holds bachelor's and
master's degrees in civil engineering and an MBA in finance from
