Qualcomm Unveils 3G CDMA Concept Phone - Advanced Wireless Multimedia Terminal Prototype Incorporates Features for Voice, Data and Video Communications

Geneva, Telecom '99, Booth 1130.2 (PROTEXT) - QUALCOMM
Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code
Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology,
today unveiled the QUALCOMM QCP(TM) Third Generation (3G) phone,
a handset prototype that incorporates features such as
videoconferencing and Web browsing that may be found in future
products. A sleek, elegant and easily portable package, this QCP
concept phone represents future phones that will be High Data
Rate (HDR) and 3G capable units. These phones will incorporate
features such as a color LCD display, touch panel control, as
well as a pop-out easel back for desktop conference calls and
video display, and a retractable keypad cover to protect the
screen. The phone also includes voice command of all major
functions. The QCP 3G handset features an extremely lightweight
(approximately 74 grams) magnesium case with leather trim that
measures 11.43 cm. x 5.08 cm x 2.54 cm.
