10.09.1999, 15:27
Australia, and finishing 17 hours later with its commercial
banking office in Los Angeles, The First National Bank of Chicago
will change its name to Bank One on Sept. 13, 1999.
The biggest impact will be in Chicago -- BANK ONE
CORPORATION's (NYSE: ONE) headquarters city and largest market.
The Bank One brand now will appear on 175 banking centers and
1,000 automated teller machines (ATMs), providing customers the
most convenience and access in the Chicago area.
"We renew the pledge that First Chicago and its dedicated
employees have lived by for 136 years: to provide world-class
financial services and support to our customers and our
communities," said Verne G. Istock, chairman of the board. "Our
merger remains on track, and we continue to look forward to the
growth opportunities ahead."
The First Chicago name change is the third major branding
initiative following the October 1998 merger of First Chicago NBD
Corporation and BANC ONE CORPORATION. In June, NBD branches in
Indiana were integrated into Bank One banking centers. A month
earlier, the company introduced the Bank One name to NBD
locations throughout Michigan and in Florida.
The Bank One brand now appears on:
-- 1,900 domestic banking centers.
-- 4,000 U.S. ATMs.
-- Offices in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney, Australia;
Tokyo;
Seoul; Taipei; Beijing; Hong Kong; Singapore; Frankfurt;
London; Mexico City; and Toronto.
The name change will be supported in Chicago by radio, print
and television advertising focusing on the Bank One brand and the
broad range of financial services that the bank offers customers.
BANK ONE CORPORATION (NYSE: ONE) is the nation's fifth largest
bank holding company, with assets of more than $256 billion. It
offers a full range of financial services to commercial and
business customers and consumers. It can be found on the Internet
