Europe / Company to Deliver Fulfilment and Configuration Services to Telenor (Norway) and GE Capital ITS (Denmark) BRUSSELS, Belgium and SANTA ANA, Calif. (PROTEXT) - Ingram Micro Inc., the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services, today announced it has signed outsourcing agreements with Telenor IT Service & Installation in Norway and GE Capital IT Solutions in Denmark to provide fulfilment and configuration services. "Ingram Micro continues to reinforce its current position as the leading services and solutions provider to the entire technology industry by providing resellers and vendors with contracted services," said Gregory M. Spierkel, executive vice president, Ingram Micro and president, Ingram Micro Europe. "The two agreements include end-user fulfilment and configuration services that will allow both Telenor IT Service & Installasjon in Norway and GE Capital IT Solutions in Denmark to offer even higher levels of customer service and to reduce operating costs by focusing on their core competencies, using Ingram Micro as an integral business partner." Telenor IT Service & Installasjon -- Norway Telenor IT Service & Installasjon is one of the largest corporate resellers in the country. With today's announcement, Ingram Micro becomes its partner for distribution of information- technology products in Norway. Through this agreement, Telenor IT Service & Installasjon will leverage Ingram Micro's product breadth, offering its customers access to tens of thousands of computer and hardware products from brand-name technology vendors. "Our need to ensure profitability within sales and distribution of IT equipment makes this kind of partnership important to us," said Jan Kare Pedersen, managing director, Telenor IT Service & Installasjon. "Ingram Micro is a very professional distributor and a business partner in whom we have great confidence." Under the terms of the agreement, which will be in effect from October of this year, Ingram Micro Norway will fulfil all IT- product shipments to Telenor's customers in the Norwegian market. In addition, the contract involves a business operation transfer of 24 of Telenor's employees to Ingram Micro Norway. Telenor's sales, marketing and support teams will continue to serve its customers directly in the Norwegian market. "We welcome the arrival of the Telenor employees and look forward to launching this new partnership with Telenor IT Service & Installasjon," said Ove Kristensen, managing director, Ingram Micro Norway. "Telenor is already one of our largest reseller customers. Today's agreement is therefore significant and very important to our organisation as it will give us considerable growth in the Norwegian market," Kristensen said. In 1998, Telenor IT Service & Installasjon, with Telenor Bedrift, had combined product purchases of more than 2 billion NOK, or approximately US $275 million. Starting with this three- year agreement, Telenor IT Service & Installasjon will acquire a majority of its products from Ingram Micro Norway. GE Capital IT Solutions -- Denmark GE Capital IT Solutions is a global one-source provider of integrated business and support solutions and one of the largest and fastest-growing corporate VAR in Denmark. Through the strategic outsourcing agreement announced today, Ingram Micro has become its primary supplier of technology products and its main partner for outsourcing all of its physical distribution of products to customers in Denmark. In addition, the partnership with Ingram Micro gives GE Capital IT Solutions' corporate customers the opportunity to purchase multivendor solutions from a single source quickly and efficiently. With today's agreement, GE Capital IT Solutions no longer will need to stock, configure or assemble products prior to delivery, as Ingram Micro will assume these functions. GE Capital IT Solutions will close down its Birkerod (Denmark) warehouse and configuration facility. All the facility's employees will transfer to Ingram Micro Denmark. "Outsourcing our product fulfilment and integration service to Ingram Micro, will help us reduce operating costs and increase our service level to our customers," said Peder Bjerge, managing director, GE Capital IT Solutions Denmark. "We chose Ingram Micro because it understands how to integrate the entire technology supply chain, ensuring maximum efficiency and service." In 1998, GE Capital Denmark had more than 500 million DKK, or approximately US $75 million, in total revenue. With this agreement, Ingram Micro Denmark will supply products for most of GE Capital Denmark's annual sales. Asger Falstrup, vice president, Ingram Micro Northern Europe, said: "These agreements with Telenor in Norway and GE Capital in Denmark further consolidate Ingram Micro's position as the leading wholesale provider of technology products and services in the Nordic region." He added: "I believe more and more of our successful and forward-looking customers are realising that the challenging cost levels of doing business in the Nordic region can be significantly improved by outsourcing large parts of their business to Ingram Micro. Doing so allows them to better focus on their core business and thus further enhance their services to the customer."
