On Director's 100th Birthday Universal City, Calif. (ots-PRNewswire) - Television stations around the world are joining in tribute to Alfred Hitchcock on the occasion of what would have been his 100th birthday, August 13, 1999. A special documentary on his life and work -- "Dial 'H' For Hitchcock: The Genius Behind the Showman" -- will air on the same day in over 15 countries, a rare occurrence for a new television show. Among those networks that will air the show on August 13th are: Encore in the U.S.; Telecine in Brazil and Portugal; Canal Plus in Benelux and Scandinavia; Star Channel in Japan; TVB in Hong Kong; ARE-TV in Egypt; Showtime in Australia; CYBC in Cyprus; Dubai TV in Dubai; and CMS in Sri Lanka. Other networks will be airing the special during the month of August and beyond. "Only a director with the scope and influence of Alfred Hitchcock could inspire such a tribute on a global scale. A Universal and Encore co-production, the television special contains clips from many of Hitchcock's classic movies and television series, plus footage from Hitchcock's never completed experimental thriller "Kaleidoscope." It also includes rare home movies and interviews with Hitchcock's daughter Pat Hitchcock, Tippi Hedren ("The Birds," "Marnie"), and Janet Leigh ("Psycho"); and, directors such as Peter Bogdanovich, Jonathan Demme and Brian DePalma.
