Bell Geospace, Inc. announced today that the M.V. Northella is currently completing its fourth survey collecting three- dimensional full tensor gradient (3-D FTG) data offshore Europe. The Northella, which began acquiring data in the North Sea in April, to date has acquired gradient data for six different companies, totaling 10,500 line kilometers. Bell Geospace plans to continue to collect data in the North Sea as long as weather permits and will then send the Northella to acquire data offshore West Africa. "We are delighted with the Northella's performance and look forward to a full season of collecting gradient data in Europe," said John P.A. MacFarlane, General Manager of Bell Geospace's Aberdeen office. "We are also very excited about our new satellite link which allows real-time data transference from the Northella to our data processing centers in Aberdeen and Houston." The M.V. Northella, a 213' Monohull specifically designed to be stable in rough seas, conducts Bell Geospace's European surveys. It is equipped with Bell Geospace's second 3-D FTG instrument, a uniquely configured gravity gradiometer consisting of 12 accelerometers. Originally designed by the United States Navy for nuclear submarine navigation, 3-D FTG technology is available exclusively through Bell Geospace. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Bell Geospace, Inc. is a privately held, technology-based company that is the exclusive provider of high-resolution three-dimensional Full Tensor Gradient data to the oil and gas market. Leading exploration and production companies employ the company's products and services to gradient optimize seismic data and identify promising drilling locations. Bell Geospace's operations for Europe, Africa and the Middle East are based in Aberdeen, Scotland.
