3dfx Drives High-Volume Motherboard Wins With Voodoo3

To mark the opening of Taiwan's Computex Taipei expo, 3dfx Interactive(R) Inc. (Nasdaq: TDFX) today announced that it continues to drive high-volume motherboard wins for its Voodoo3(TM) 2000 graphics accelerator. 3dfx announced that its Voodoo3 2000 will be integrated onto new motherboard products from ASUSTeK, A-Trend , Gigabyte and MSI. "With broad acceptance among motherboard manufacturers in Asia, 3dfx is delivering on its promise from COMDEX '98 to establish Voodoo3 2000 as a high-volume graphics product ideal for motherboard-level integration," said Michael Howse, senior vice president of worldwide marketing at 3dfx Interactive. "Following our earlier motherboard design wins in the U.S. and Europe, these four announcements further solidify the Voodoo3 line as a volume leader both in retail and OEM channels, and strengthen 3dfx's role as a recognized leading graphics supplier." Available to OEMs this summer, the new motherboards will feature the 143MHz Voodoo3 2000 chipset with 16MB of memory and a 300MHz RAMDAC. Voodoo3 2000 will be highlighted in the P3B-V model from ASUSTeK; the ATC6253M, ATC6254M, and ATC6264M motherboard products from A-Trend; the 6BXM product from Gigabyte; and the MS6168 from MSI. Vodooo3 2000 generates up to 6 million triangles and 286 Megatexels per second at resolutions of up to 2,048 by 1,536 pixels. Voodoo3 2000 also includes such advanced features as: single-pass single-cycle multi-texturing for bump mapping and trilinear mip-mapping, dual 32-bit internal rendering, per-pixel mip-mapping, sub-pixel and sub-texel correction, 8-bit palletized textures, programmable exponential fog tables, Gouraud shading, a full 128-bit 2D accelerator, DVD hardware assist, and support for DirectX, Glide(R) and OpenGL.
