For the first time ever, the finals of this year’s The International Awards for Liveable Communities are taking place in the Czech Republic. This contest is devoted to the quality of urban life, particularly with regard to sustainable development. Pilsen has scored success in the competition for four times already. The 13th annual contest will take part from 8 to 12 October 2009 at the Congress Centre Parkhotel Pilsen and will be open to the public. In addition to presentations of individual cities and projects, visitors can also attend a UN seminar.
As part of the events connected with The LivCom Awards 2009, the City of Pilsen announced an art and photography contest at the beginning of this year entitled "Pilsen - A Liveable City". It will be possible to see the results in front of the Academic Library from 4 August to 11 September. The art section was open solely to children and was divided into two categories (pupils in 1st - 5th Class, and pupils 6th - 9th Class). The photography section was evaluated without regard to age. This exhibition shows the work of the winners as well as other works that caught the jury’s attention.
The organisers thank all those who shared their views of Pilsen; the sponzor of the art and photography contest, K + B Elektro - Technik spol.
s r.o., which donated the Places; and Nadacni fond Zeleny poklad ("Green Treasure" Fund) for financial support for holding this exhibition. We would also like to thank all partners of the LivCom Awards 2009.
